Hello! I know we don't talk, but I saw you're in the Marines. I was wondering if you'd be willing to talk to me about it? I'm currently talking to a recruiter and want to make sure I talk to some people who have been there/done that.
Hi! Sure, I’d love to talk to you, this is definitely a big step to make in your life. I personally enjoy being in the Marine Corps. At first, I was cold feet you could say because I wasn’t sure if the recruiter was lying to me or not, because I heard they would do that just to get numbers. But it is what you make of it. Boot Camp is without a doubt challenging both mentally and physically, but it isn’t impossible to do. If you put it in your mind that you can do it, you will do it. The Drill Instructors will be intimidating, but you have to keep in mind that they are human beings just like you, so they can’t kill you. And the fact that they are Drill Instructors means that at some point in time, they were in the same shoes you were in; a recruit. And they made it. So if they can do it, you can too. After boot camp is MCT, which isn’t as hard mentally but physically just as challenging. Then MOS school for your job training and off you go to the fleet. As long as you don’t lose your focus as to why you joined, you can do it. Your accomplishments will be limitless as long as you keep that mindset, and never let someone tell you otherwise. Do you know what MOS you want to be in?
hey i just saw your video :) im joining the marines in a year or 2 years, im still in high school but i want to ask you, what do you do in the marines, like your job? and is it possible to do it for 4 years only?
Hi dear! My mos is 3432; Finance/Disbursing. I pretty much deal with the mula marines make. And it is definitely possible to only do 4 years. A lot of Marines, do their 4 years, and get out to pursue something else.
So, I love your profile. But I'm really nervous about the Marines I've wanted it for a long time. But, I've heard some not so lovely things about the treatment of women in the military. Could I ask you questions if your not too busy?
Sure no problem! What kind of questions do you have?
You inspire me beyond words. i look up to you soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!! Im pretty young 14, but I've wanted to be a marine since i was 6, my dad, and grandpa were afterall. i just wanted to know, what is it like being a female in the marines? is it sexist? do you get treated differently as a woman? Also what do you think the best mos's are? Oh and congratulations on becoming a corporal :) ~Tylor.
Hi Love! I appreciate your sweet words. The Marine Corps from a Female perspective is not as hard as what everyone makes it seem. They do expect a lot more because you have to be able to compete with the guys, but it’s not as sexist. Only some units is it really bad. Me being in 3432 (Finance), we females get treated respectfully. There has been times where some male Marines would look at me and say that I can’t do it, or frown on me because I am a female, but that’s where your fighting spirit comes in and you have to let what they say go and Let God have its way. I personally do enjoy being here. It is very challenging, but it has its rewards. You make your experience in the Marine Corps. It can be good, or it can be bad. But as long as you stay true to yourself, and work hard. You can make it through just fine. I hope this helps dear! Email me anytime you need advice. I’ll be here :).
hello My name is Katherine and I would like to know what it is like for female marines in boot camp. My cousin; Cpl Brent Hinson is also in the marines so i know a good bit from a mans stand point. I really want to be in the military and my mom wants me to be in the airforce or navy, but i am looking at army or marines. Can you tell me what to expect, how i can ready myself? I hope to hear back soon. Semper Fi
Hi swaeetie! You’re probably already in the Marine Corps now because I’ve answered so late, but from a female’s perspective it really is awesome. It is a challenge, because you really have to compete now just with other females, but the males as well. You have to be just as fast, and just as strong. But you can do it, if you put your mind to it. It may be hard, but you just have to stick in there and say that I can do this. And you can. I never would’ve thought I could do half of the things that I can do now. I would’ve never thought that I will see the day that I of all people can actually do pull-ups! Lol. But just hang in there. It isn’t as hard as everyone makes it seem, it’s just a challenge. And don’t listen to the bogus talk saying oh if you’re join the Marine Corps you’re going to be nothing but a killer and they will change you; so not true. Yes, you will def learn to defend yourself, to fight, and to kill. But do you have to actually BE that person? No. I’m still the same person I was before I joined the Corps, and that will not change. Never forget who you truly are. No one can change that about you but you. Hope this helps! If you need anymore advice, feel free to ask!
